To continuously build a “smart ground handling” system, enhance technological productivity, and advance the informationization of BGS cargo operations, electronic scales for freight forklifts have recently been introduced into the BGS cargo terminal.
The BGS International Cargo Terminal is a Tier-1 cargo terminal at the Capital Airport. At the receiving and outbound handling stations, employees need to weigh and measure large-sized and bulk cargo. Under the previous operational model, staff had to use forklifts to place the measured cargo onto floor scales for weighing, then use forklifts again to return the weighed cargo to the handling or storage area. This process was labor-intensive and inefficient. The newly commissioned forklift-mounted electronic scales can perform both weighing and hold-weight operations, significantly reducing the frequency of forklift trips between the handling area and the weighing area. By saving manpower and resources, these scales also provide more timely and accurate weight data, thereby boosting overall work efficiency.
Going forward, BGS will continue to monitor the trial performance of forklift scales and steadily advance the development of “smart ground handling services.” Leveraging the unique characteristics of ground handling operations, we will further promote the adoption and application of more automated, intelligent, and user-friendly products within the company.
