Recently, the 21st Meeting of the IATA China Digital Cargo Working Group and the 10th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony of the China Digital Cargo Working Group were held at the IATA North Asia Regional Office in Shunyi, Beijing. Relevant officials from BGS’s Freight Division attended the celebration ceremony.

It is reported that this conference has invited relevant leaders and experts from government agencies and research institutions, as well as representatives from airports, airlines, ground handling agents, and freight forwarding companies. Mr. Xie Xingquan, IATA Vice President for North Asia, delivered the opening remarks for the event, while Mr. Dou Peng, IATA Director of Operational Safety for North Asia, chaired the celebration ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the “Jointly Building the Digital Freight Working Group.” As one of the earliest members to join China’s Digital Freight Working Group in 2013, BGS has witnessed firsthand both the challenges and triumphs of the group’s journey. The decade since the establishment of China’s Digital Freight Working Group has been a period of rapid development in digital freight. Together with IATA, BGS has closely followed and celebrated the vigorous growth of electronic air waybills and digital freight operations across China over the past ten years.

At the meeting, BGS engaged in discussions with the attendees on “jointly building and sharing a digital platform for air cargo transportation, as well as fostering collaborative cooperation.” Moving forward, BGS will continue to fully support IATA’s work in China and the North Asia region, strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other members of the working group, and promote the practical implementation of digital freight solutions in the Beijing area. During the subsequent session, representatives from all parties jointly listened to updates on the progress of IATA’s digital freight initiative, key milestones achieved, and pilot programs underway globally. Shenzhen Airport shared its experience participating in the “Maker Marathon” competition. Finally, the IATA Digital Freight team presented the latest updates on IATA’s new data exchange standard, One Record. Leaders from government agencies and members of the working group then shared insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with promoting digital freight domestically.

Next, BGS will continue to establish deeper communication and collaboration with IATA and various organizations and entities within the industry, jointly exploring new pathways to break through traditional operational models through digital means. This will enable us to better adapt to industry development trends and contribute to the advancement and transformation of digital freight transportation at the national level and throughout the North Asia region.
