Li Shuo

Since graduating from school in 2000, Ma Xue has been with BGS ever since. She always greets her colleagues and clients with a warm smile, and everyone—both at work and in life—calls her “Sister Xue.” “Sister Xue, could you take a look and tell me if this request can be written like this?” “Sister Xue, we’re running low on ribbon!” “Sister Xue, could you help me check the information about that temperature-control box?” In her work, Ma Xue is a true “jack-of-all-trades.” Although her daily tasks are busy and intricate, she never loses her original enthusiasm and passion.

Let diligence permeate your work from beginning to end.

The Rui Xiang team in the freight department, where Ma Xue works, is a new team established by BGS at the end of 2020 with the goal of breaking through business barriers and optimizing services. The team is dedicated to providing safer, more efficient, and streamlined cold-chain logistics freight services as well as management support. At the time of its establishment, the COVID-19 pandemic was rapidly escalating. Her team took on the responsibility of ensuring the outbound operations for the vast majority of COVID-19 vaccine shipments at the capital airport’s port of entry. In collaboration with partner company Wen Ruitong, their temperature-controlled container handling volume ranked first in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ma Xue is responsible for a wide range of detailed and often琐碎 tasks within her team—tasks that are neither few nor easy. She serves as a vital link, coordinating between the freight office and the team to ensure that all tasks are carried out smoothly and effectively. At the same time, she acts as an indispensable assistant, promptly providing team leaders with accurate and reliable data, promptly reporting any issues encountered during work, and thereby enhancing overall work efficiency. Many of the tasks she handles directly affect the team members’ immediate interests and the smooth operation of the team: filing claims for night-shift allowances and overtime pay; ordering office supplies and printed materials; receiving cold-chain goods and renting temperature-controlled containers, and so forth. Even the slightest error could result in 100% loss for both team members and the team itself. Ma Xue often says, “It’s not difficult to do one thing well; what’s truly challenging is consistently doing your job thoroughly, meticulously, and with unwavering dedication year after year.” To prevent any problems from arising, she approaches each task with utmost care and double-checks her work repeatedly. To improve efficiency and data accuracy, she diligently learns and masters relevant office software. And to continuously refine her skills, she actively studies related business knowledge together with her team members, ensuring that she completes her job training and assessments with both quality and quantity guaranteed.

Let publicity “take root” on the production front lines.

In addition to being a versatile business professional, Ma Xue is also an outstanding public relations and communications specialist. Over the past three years since becoming a publicist in the freight department, Ma Xue has firmly rooted her publicity efforts in the frontline, striving to tell each freight story well and showcase the remarkable qualities of freight employees. In her view, major service guarantees, distinctive branch activities, and exemplary employee stories are all valuable news materials that must not be missed or delayed in coverage.

When it comes to publicity and reporting, Ma Xue has her own unique approach and methods. She continuously charges up her knowledge and skills to meet the challenges head-on. Publicity work is full of challenges, requiring constant learning and self-improvement. Since becoming a publicity reporter three years ago, she has proactively sought out materials for publicity reports, actively consulted with her supervisors and colleagues, and always maintained a keen sense of news awareness. In her publicity efforts, she insists on “stepping out” of the office to carefully document the contributions made by frontline employees in their ordinary roles; and she also strives to “enter” the hearts of employees, empathizing deeply with their thoughts and feelings. Moreover, she actively participates in regular meetings for correspondents and various publicity exchange seminars organized by the company, making every effort to enhance her professional competence in journalism and publicity.

Strictly uphold the right direction and pay close attention to public opinion. News reporting must take public opinion into account. She constantly holds herself to three key requirements: First, ensure high-quality reporting—strictly adhering to the right direction, conducting positive publicity, choosing the right angles, and innovating while staying true to tradition. Second, accelerate the pace—focusing on the timeliness of articles, preparing event schedules and article outlines in advance, and promptly following up and promoting content. Third, exercise utmost caution—given that publicity efforts reach a wide audience and cover a broad scope, it’s essential to meticulously proofread all materials and leave no room for error.

With heartfelt insight and meticulous documentation, Ma Xue, as a publicist for the International Division of the Freight Department, deeply understands that the collection, transportation, storage, and assembly of goods represent a “rich mine” of news resources. Therefore, she consistently maintains a high degree of sensitivity toward everyday work events, frequently going deep into the production frontline to spot shining moments amid the repetitive tasks of receiving, inspecting, assembling, storing, and dispatching. She reports on touching stories of frontline employees and the successful support provided during major events, fostering an atmosphere in which colleagues can learn from outstanding staff members and highlighting the Freight Department’s actions and commitment to enhancing service quality and ensuring safe production.

Ma Xue has consistently integrated her publicity and reporting efforts into the center’s core work, earning widespread praise from frontline employees. As a highly productive publicist, since 2023 she has cumulatively submitted and published 42 articles, accumulating a total of 134 points. One of her articles was published in China Civil Aviation News, five were solicited and published by the Group, 19 were published on the company’s external website, the “Guomen Ground Services” platform, and its WeChat official account, and 17 were published via the company’s OA system, making significant contributions to the publicity and reporting efforts of the Cargo Department.

Ma Xue’s dedication to her work and her diligent, down-to-earth approach embody the spirit of many freight handlers at BGS. She hasn’t accomplished any earth-shattering feats, yet over the past 23 years, she has remained steadfast and persistent. Every single task she’s undertaken—no matter how ordinary it may seem—reflects the true spirit of a freight handler. With a patient, meticulous, and rigorous work ethic, she diligently carries out every assigned task in her unassuming position, striving to do even the smallest details exceptionally well, ensuring that the name “freight handler” shines brightly on her.
