Recently, Hainan Airlines (hereinafter referred to as HNA) officially resumed its first direct international flight to the United States since the pandemic. The Passenger Transport Department successfully completed the support mission for HNA’s inaugural flight HU729 from Beijing to Boston.
The Passenger Transport Department attaches great importance to ensuring the smooth resumption of flights on the U.S. route. Upon receiving the notification, the department promptly made active arrangements and is comprehensively promoting the resumption process in a steady and orderly manner. The department has held multiple coordination meetings with Hainan Airlines, meticulously reviewing and confirming details such as changes to operational procedures and enhancements to service standards. Specialized training programs have been developed covering various aspects—including visa verification procedures, service operation manuals, and personnel deployment arrangements—to ensure that support staff are thoroughly familiar with the requirements of U.S. Route 382 prior to flight operations. In addition, experienced staff have been assigned to conduct advance system testing, guaranteeing that all facilities and equipment will be fully operational on the day of the resumption.
On the day of flight resumption, to ensure smooth departure of the flight, the head of the check-in sub-department and the on-duty supervisor from the Passenger Services Department were both present, closely monitoring each flight “flight by flight.” All members of the crew arrived at their posts ahead of time and, during the pre-flight briefing, received a final reminder about critical flight information and special passenger circumstances. Special emphasis was placed on guiding staff to effectively manage passenger queues and direct traffic flow, with particular attention paid to ensuring that special passengers were directed to the appropriate counters for priority check-in procedures. Thanks to the concerted efforts of all personnel at every post, flight HU729—carrying 109 passengers and 155 pieces of luggage—departed smoothly. The airline and passengers alike highly praised the crew’s solid professional competence and efficient support capabilities.
In the future, the Passenger Transport Department will continue to provide professional services that are safe, convenient, efficient, and enjoyable, ensuring smooth and secure travel for the vast majority of passengers.
