On December 11, the capital airport experienced its first snowfall of this winter. BGS conducted advance assessments and promptly assembled personnel and equipment. Zhang Hongkong, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of BGS, Liu Bo, Executive President, Shi Yuhong, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager, and Zhang Yichen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, took the lead in directing operations and coordinating efforts. All departments responded swiftly and worked closely together, while the logistics support team provided highly efficient assistance, ensuring that every effort was made to successfully carry out the initial snowfall response tasks.
12 At 12:00 on the 10th, the Capital Airport issued a notice to activate the designated de-icing support procedure starting at 20:00. Upon receiving the operational alert from the Capital Airport, BGS immediately initiated information dissemination. Drawing on past experience in handling snowfall operations, all frontline support departments promptly activated their de-icing contingency plans and made detailed arrangements covering personnel scheduling, equipment and facility readiness, delay management, and logistical support. By 18:00 on the 10th, BGS had completed the initial assembly of de-icing personnel and equipment. In conjunction with real-time operational updates released by the airport, BGS stepped up its monitoring and safety guidance for aircraft movement vehicles, operational staff, and de-icing operations on the apron. After completing de-icing and anti-icing procedures for aircraft, ground de-icing inspectors conducted thorough inspections of critical aircraft parts and areas to ensure that no residual ice, frost, snow, or partially melted contaminants remained before authorizing the aircraft to proceed. In anticipation of potential flight delays and diversionary landings due to snowy weather conditions, BGS proactively deployed resources and activated its extraordinary flight delay coordination mechanism, requiring all departments to enhance communication and cooperation across all operational stages and make every effort to provide comprehensive support for delayed flights. As of the 11th, BGS had carried out de-icing operations on a total of 74 flights, using de-icing vehicles 233 times, and involving more than 100 personnel in de-icing activities.
For snowy weather conditions, in addition to professional de-icing operations, passenger services at remote aircraft stands are also a key focus for BGS. Specialized vehicles such as passenger boarding stairs vehicles, platform vehicles, and conveyor belt vehicles ensure that snow accumulates promptly on vehicle steps and operating platforms, and staff are assigned to repeatedly remind passengers to “hold onto the handrails tightly and watch their step” when boarding and disembarking. This meticulous and caring service has been highly praised by passengers. All departments have also stepped up on-site supervision and inspection efforts, fully implementing safety responsibilities to ensure smooth and orderly operations on the apron. Moreover, BGS has actively taken measures to care for its employees, providing hot water, meals, and other supplies on standby vehicles to genuinely safeguard their physical health.
BGS Staff remain steadfast on the front lines, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of flights even in snowy weather, thanks to their professional expertise and attentive service. It is reported that the capital airport will experience more snowfall this week. BGS will continue to maintain unwavering vigilance, meticulously coordinating all aspects of safe operations to safeguard the takeoffs and landings at the capital airport with safe and efficient procedures, thereby helping passengers travel with peace of mind.
