To further strengthen fire safety efforts within the warehouse area and ensure smooth transportation during the peak “Double 12” shipping period as well as a safe and successful conclusion to year-end operations, the Freight Department organized an emergency response drill for unexpected incidents. Wang Min, from the Group’s working team stationed at BGS, provided commentary on this drill and offered practical suggestions for addressing the shortcomings identified during the drill’s various stages.
As we approach the end of the year, the Cargo Department has placed great emphasis on implementing fire safety measures. This drill was conducted based on a pre-defined scenario: security personnel discovered hidden hazardous materials—lithium batteries spontaneously combusting—among the goods at the receiving platform. Upon spotting smoke coming from a package bearing distinctive labels, the security guard promptly alerted a business employee from the Cargo Department stationed at the receiving platform. The business employee immediately followed the procedures outlined in the "Cargo Department Emergency Response Plan for Unexpected Cargo Incidents," swiftly initiating the appropriate response. They clearly defined roles and responsibilities, promptly arranged for security personnel to cordon off the affected area, and carried out firefighting steps to neutralize the hazard at its earliest stage. At the same time, they reported the incident according to established protocols, escalating the situation as necessary and notifying volunteer firefighters to come to the scene for further handling. Afterwards, professional firefighters from Hanggang Property provided a detailed explanation of how to use water-based fire extinguishers, highlighting important precautions, and demonstrated the proper operation techniques.
Through this drill, employees have further enhanced their fire safety awareness and gained a better understanding of emergency response procedures and reporting protocols for lithium battery fires. In future work, the Cargo Department will continue to strengthen coordination among all units within the warehouse area, vigorously promote and implement fire safety measures, and ensure that every employee is proficient in emergency response procedures, making sure that everyone in the warehouse area is both a firefighter and capable of using firefighting equipment.
