Since the start of the summer travel season, with a noticeable increase in passengers traveling with families, in groups, or in student collectives, BGS has entered a busy period in providing services and support for unaccompanied minors (hereinafter referred to as “unaccompanied children”). To ensure that unaccompanied children have a safer and more enjoyable travel experience at the capital airport, BGS has developed multiple service initiatives, focusing on every detail of the service process, to help these children travel with peace of mind and set off on their journeys feeling warmly supported.

“From the car door to the cabin door”—creating a “one-stop” dedicated escort service.

“Sister, it’s great to see you again!” On the first day of the summer travel peak, Lu Ran, an employee in the special services team of BGS’s passenger transport department, was waiting for unaccompanied children arriving on international inbound flights when she heard a familiar child’s voice. Following the sound, Lu Ran spotted little Qi—whom she’d accompanied half a year earlier. At that time, little Qi had flown alone from the Capital Airport to the United States, and Lu Ran had been the on-site staff member who’d personally accompanied him throughout the entire journey. Thanks to Lu Ran’s professional and meticulous service at every stage, little Qi had deeply remembered this warm and caring “big sister.” So, when little Qi returned home this time, his mother once again chose BGS’s unaccompanied children service. She said, “With such thoughtful ground support, I truly feel completely reassured entrusting my child to them.”

Throughout, in addition to ensuring unaccompanied children enjoy a seamless travel experience characterized by efficient check-in, swift security screening, and smooth boarding, BGS has focused on service details. Building upon a comprehensive refinement of service procedures and meticulous design of service stages, BGS has created a “one-stop” dedicated escort service—from the vehicle door to the aircraft cabin—providing unaccompanied children with attentive, personalized care throughout their entire journey, from their very first arrival at the capital airport to the final moment when they board the plane. This allows them to spend their “first-time solo flight” in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

In addition, BGS has also launched an SMS notification service for parents of children. Through the content of these text messages, parents can promptly stay informed about their children’s travel conditions and status, enabling them to “accompany” their children remotely and in real time. “Although this is my child’s first time traveling abroad alone, with such a thoughtful and attentive service, I’m sure he’ll have a wonderful trip,” said Ms. Zhang, who had just received photos and videos from her son after parting with him.

“From older sister to mom”—building “tiered, specialized” personalized services.

To provide better, more tailored, and attentive services for unaccompanied children of different age groups, BGS has established a dedicated Unaccompanied Children Service Team based on practical service needs. The team continuously delves deeper into the unique travel characteristics and needs of unaccompanied children, developing a “tiered” approach to specialized, personalized services: For the 5-8 age group—children who are full of curiosity about their surroundings yet lack the ability to protect themselves—we assign “mom-like” staff members to provide全程 accompaniment and care; for the 9-12 age group—children who already possess a certain level of awareness and independent thinking skills and require greater autonomy—we assign “older-sister” staff members to accompany them throughout their journey, ensuring a more comfortable and relaxed travel experience for passengers.

Meanwhile, to ensure that the unaccompanied children’s services are carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner, BGS regularly organizes specialized training sessions for all team members, covering a wide range of service-related topics such as child communication skills, psychological counseling, and emergency rescue procedures. These sessions lay a solid foundation for staff to better understand the needs and psychological states of unaccompanied children and to respond swiftly and effectively to unexpected emergencies.

“From fun to heartwarming”—creating “exclusive,” personalized services.

In addition to the convenience and efficiency of our procedures, ensuring that unaccompanied children have a pleasant and memorable journey is also an important aspect of enhancing service quality. To this end, BGS has launched the “Colorful Services, Fun Airport Experience” series of unaccompanied child airport services, enabling these children to “gain plenty” during their waiting time and fully enjoy the excitement of travel.

On the one hand, BGS has set up a dedicated rest area for unaccompanied children and created a separate activity zone within the existing two-cabin lounge. This zone is equipped with an abundance of books, stickers, toys, drawing tools, origami materials, and more, crafting an independent and engaging “fun-filled” space. Unaccompanied children can fully unleash their creativity during waiting periods, using various materials to create their favorite drawings and origami crafts—and they’re even allowed to take their creations home as cherished mementos of their journey. On the other hand, BGS has launched a brand-new travel photography service for unaccompanied children, along with custom-designed cultural and creative wristbands. With the consent of both the unaccompanied children and their parents, BGS will capture photos and videos of these young travelers, freezing precious moments from their trip. At the same time, each unaccompanied child will receive a personalized wristband as a gift, adding an extra layer of “double delight” to their journey. “Your gifts are so meaningful and memorable—my child absolutely loves them! Thank you so much for putting such thoughtful effort into preparing them,” said Ms. Wang, a traveler.

Since the start of the summer travel season, BGS has accompanied over 500 unaccompanied children safely on their journeys. Our high-quality, attentive service has received unanimous praise from both customers and passengers. In the upcoming summer travel season support efforts, BGS will continue to pay close attention to passengers’ diverse service needs, constantly enhance our service quality, and ensure safe, efficient, convenient, and enjoyable travel for all passengers at the Capital Airport.
