Since the onset of summer, as temperatures continue to rise, transporting fresh and perishable goods—as well as vaccine and pharmaceutical products that are highly sensitive to temperature—has become a significant challenge. Faced with the dual challenges of summer heat and thunderstorms, BGS has adopted multiple measures to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of fresh cold-chain goods, successfully winning the battle to maintain their “temperature.”

Start with the details to help fresh goods “beat the heat.”

The transportation of live animals, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other perishable goods has always been a key focus and priority of BGS’s freight services. Every summer, the transportation of fresh produce faces multiple adverse factors simultaneously—such as high temperatures and thunderstorms—putting the efficiency of cargo delivery to the test. To address this challenge, BGS has adopted a meticulous, detail-oriented approach and introduced personalized services designed to “cool down and relieve the heat” for your goods.

Regarding the welfare of live animals, to prevent small animals from experiencing “stress responses” due to long-distance, enclosed flights and their inability to adapt to high-temperature environments, BGS will arrange for incoming and outgoing live animals to be stored in “live animal rooms”—areas with low foot traffic and excellent ventilation and cooling conditions. These rooms are equipped with air conditioners, fans, and other cooling devices. To further cool and keep the storage area dust-free, water is sprayed onto the floor. In addition, dedicated personnel will conduct continuous patrols to ensure that the live animals remain in good condition. For domestic transportation of fresh and live goods, while strictly implementing cargo disinfection measures, BGS adheres to the principles of prioritizing unpacking, prioritizing cargo release, and prioritizing pickup, thereby reducing cargo handling times. In the event of severe weather such as heavy rain or thunderstorms, staff will take appropriate measures to protect the goods from rain and increase the frequency of on-site inspections to ensure that the goods remain safe and undamaged. Meanwhile, BGS has also introduced methods such as “online reservations,” telephone follow-ups, and “offline reservations” at counters to further optimize the cold storage reservation system. Based on customer needs, BGS proactively deploys support resources, accelerates the turnover of cold-chain goods, and ensures that cold-storage capacity meets actual demand.

Precision management ensures the safe “summer passage” of cold-chain pharmaceutical products.

Under the new normal of COVID-19 prevention and control, the volume of cold-chain pharmaceutical shipments—including COVID-19 vaccines—remains substantial. Transporting cold-chain pharmaceuticals not only places high demands on timeliness and operational procedures but also imposes particularly stringent requirements on storage temperatures. Any temperature deviation during transportation or storage can seriously compromise the "shelf life" of vaccines and other pharmaceutical products. To ensure the safe transport of cold-chain pharmaceuticals even in the hot summer weather, BGS has innovated a refined management model based on its existing full-service chain operations covering “receiving, inspection, verification, checking, and storage” of cold-chain goods, thereby making the transport of these pharmaceuticals both safe and efficient.

“Cold-chain preservation” is the top priority in handling cold-chain goods, and the efficiency of each operational step directly affects the temperature-control performance of the goods. The longer the operation takes, the greater the risk that the goods will experience temperature deviations. To further enhance the operational efficiency at each stage, BGS, while adhering to operational regulations, has clearly defined the duration of each step in the cold-chain goods assurance process. Leveraging existing cold-storage resources and facilities, BGS has implemented refined management of cold-storage capacity and the flow of goods in and out of the warehouses. For temperature-controlled goods entering and leaving the country, BGS adopts separate storage practices, thereby improving the efficiency of cold-storage operations and cargo handling. In international cold-chain operations, BGS strictly controls two critical time periods—cargo consolidation before departure and return to the warehouse—and strengthens reminders about operational durations, ensuring precise control measures are in place. This helps reduce the exposure time of cold-chain goods and guarantees that their temperatures remain within a controllable range. Meanwhile, BGS has adopted technology-driven approaches by launching and putting into use an “Intelligent Monitoring and Early Warning System for Cold-Storage Environment and Equipment Operating Status.” Employees can now monitor and record key data such as cold-storage temperature, humidity, and equipment status anytime and anywhere via their mobile phones, effectively mitigating the risk of temperature fluctuations in cold storage facilities.

The scorching heat of midsummer is putting BGS’s cargo transportation services to the ultimate test. Providing customers and shippers with safer, more efficient, more convenient, and more enjoyable services remains BGS’s unwavering mission. Moving forward, BGS will deliver even more professional support and meticulous service, ensuring that the transportation of fresh, cold-chain goods can confidently withstand the “heat” and proceed smoothly and safely.
